About Our Firm

Founded in 2008, Shem Creek Capital is a commercial real estate debt fund that focuses on mid-market real estate investment opportunities in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

  • Underserved market focus: We provide bridge financing for primarily cash-flowing multifamily and industrial properties with underlying value of $5-$50 million — a market historically overlooked and underserved by institutional capital sources. We will selectively look at other asset classes on an opportunistic basis, such as office, retail and hospitality.
  • Firstmortgage specialization: While our experience spans various structures within the capital stack, we focus primarily on first mortgages. To date, 92% of our investments have been in the form of first mortgages.
  • Experienced leadership: Our management team and Advisory Board bring extensive, complementary transactional experience across a wide range of asset classes and structures.
  • A proven track record: Since 2008, we’ve closed 125+ transactions representing over $1.4 billion in investments across multiple market cycles.
  • Punching above our weight: Despite being a smaller firm, we bring institutional execution and sophistication down to the middle market, offering flexible and tailored solutions.

Founded on principles of open communication and transparency, we pride ourselves on being a relationship-driven, balance-sheet lender and investment manager.

We provide our borrowers with a high-touch post-closing experience that features in-house servicing and asset management. The members of our small, dynamic team prioritize accessibility and responsiveness to facilitate client needs.

The Bob Parsons Memorial

An early Shem Creek Partner, Bob Parsons tragically lost his life to pancreatic cancer in 2015. In his memory, Shem Creek hosts the Bob Parsons Memorial each September to support cancer research and assistance at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Our mission is to turn loss into purpose and bring people together to fight this devastating disease.

Through the generosity of sponsors, donors, volunteers and participants, the Bob Parsons Memorial has raised over $2.4 million for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These efforts are directed toward pancreatic cancer early-detection research, chronic lymphocytic leukemia research and the Patient Assistance Crisis Fund.

At its heart, the Bob Parsons Memorial is about connection and community. It is a day where old friends reunite, new friendships are formed, stories are shared, and people come together for something bigger than themselves. From the golf course to the dinner, auction and celebration that follow, every detail reflects the belief that together we can make a difference.
